Celebrate National Pasta Month at Basta Pasta!

October is National Pasta Month, which means it’s the perfect time to dine at Basta Pasta!

October is National Pasta Month, which means it’s the perfect time to dine at Basta Pasta! The earliest mention of pasta dates back to Greek mythology. It is believed that the god Hephaestus invented a device that made strings of dough! Dried pasta became popular in the 14th and 15th centuries, and the first Italian tomato sauces are referenced in cookbooks from the 18th century! Learn more about pasta, and discover the wonderful pasta recipes offered at Basta Pasta!

Seafood Linguine

October is the perfect month to enjoy a bowl of seafood linguine at Basta Pasta! The dish is made with shrimp, scallops, jumbo lump crab meat, and spinach in a delicious vodka pink sauce. Linguine originated in Genoa and the Liguria region of Italy. It’s traditionally served with seafood or pesto and made primarily of flour and egg.

Fettuccine Alfredo

At Basta Pasta, diners can enjoy their choice of marinara, Fra Diavolo linguine, or fettuccine alfredo for the Seafood Pasta dish. Fettucine alfredo is named after Alfredo di Lelio, who featured the dish at his restaurant in Rome in the early 20th century. The dish became popularized and eventually spread to the United States. The rest is history!

Penne Alla Vodka

Penne Alla Vodka is a classic pasta dish made with spinach, pancetta, and a light vodka cream sauce. Diners at Basta Pasta can choose between chicken and shrimp to complete the dish! Penne is the plural of the Italian word “penna,” which means “feather” or “quill.” The origins of penne pasta date back to 1865 from Genoa.

Gnocchi

Gnocchi is made when pasta and dumplings unite! Like many Italian dishes, gnocchi has considerable variation in recipes and names. Gnocci is derived from the Italian word “nocchio,” which translates to “knot in wood.” In Roman times, the gnocchi was made from semolina porridge-like dough mixed with eggs. The use of potato is considered to be relatively recent, but it makes the delicious fluffy and delicious!
